Welcome (Back) To Draft Talk
The NFL Draft is no longer a three-day event. It’s become such an integral part of content strategies across the internet that you’re going to see 2025 NFL mock drafts flooding the timeline *minutes* after the conclusion of this weekend’s three-day event.
That will drive a lot of football fans insane. I get it. The Draft Industrial Complex is not for everyone. But for some people, the draft process is one of the most entertaining parts of consuming the sport.
That’s where Draft Talk comes in.
Draft Talk has been in podcast form for the last few seasons, with Justis Mosqueda, Tex Western, and myself doing Packers-focused draft coverage for SB Nation’s Acme Packing Company.
Unfortunately, Vox Media’s decision to shut down all SB Nation podcast feeds resulted in a big setback for Draft Talk and other APC podcast shows. The good news is that those are slowly returning thanks to the creation of Frozen Tundra Frequencies.
Draft Talk has been one of my favorite projects since I started writing way back in 2012. I’ve consistently kept notes on prospects and updated big boards dating back to the 2016 NFL Draft. All of these notes have been publicly available, but never used beyond mock drafts and draft-focused articles for sites like APC.
This weekly newsletter is my first opportunity to give a league-wide perspective on the draft. We’ll be breaking down your favorite prospects, grinding the tape, discussing whatever the latest debate on Twitter/X is that week, and more.
My hope is that by subscribing, you can become an active member of a draft-focused community. I want this to be an inclusive process, and not just one where I’m sending posts to your inbox where I’m just talking to myself.
As a subscriber, you’ll be actively recommending prospects, subjects, and ideas for the Draft Talk community to discuss. We’ll do some Q&A mailbags, film breakdowns, and more as this newsletter continues to grow.
Thank you for your support. I can’t wait to get started.
For now, enjoy the 2024 NFL Draft, and let’s get after it.
